  2. Historical Fact about Oliver Cromwell dissolution of English Parliament in 1653 and later on digging of his body from the grave and hanging it in public
There's another constructive criticism of departing CJ Khosa Sb's erratic knowledge about British/European history-as he was referring to during his cardinal address at the Judicial Academy Islamabad, a couple of days ago. He was just relying upon his recondite information extracted from Wikipedia while discussing Oliver Cromwell's posthumous trial/punishment. No doubt after Restoration of Charles-II (ruled 1660-1685) in 1660, Cromwell's body was disinterred from his grave. The bodies of Cromwell and other Roundhead parliamentarians such as John Bradshaw etc, were hanged upside down at the same place in the Westminster building where Charles-I (ruled 1625-49) was beheaded. The cut-off head of Cromwell was later buried with honour in Cambridge University's Sidney Sussex College. But Khosa Sb didn't have a clue that Cromwell fought the English Civil War (1642-51) against Charles-I and his Cavaliers (later called Rump Parliamentarians after Restoration)-only to establish democracy, rule of law and autonomy of the English Parliament. Whereas, Charles-I and his Royalist/Cavaliers fought for Divine Rights of the King-an absolute nonsense. Oliver Cromwell and Roundheads were fighting to establish the spirit of Magna Carta (June 1215) that established the earliest form of parliamentary democracy in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Even today-if there is a functional constitutional monarchy in Britain, it's the outcome of the English Glorious Revolution (1688-89) that passed the Bill of Rights (1689) and established people's basic rights. And causes of this revolution were highlighted/partly addressed by Cromwell/Roundheads forty years in advance. Cromwell, like any benevolent despot, established democracy and freedom of Press-as demanded by John Milton through Areopagitica in 1644. So did Musharraf. Cromwell's posthumous trial and hanging wasn't carried out by a legal court-in the contrary, his grave was exhumed by the Cavalier/Rump stooges of new King Charles-II. Do Waqar Seth and Asif Khosa want Musharraf to be punished as Charles-II's jingoistic-loyalist did to the dead body of Cromwell? *Little knowledge is too dangerous-and Wikipedia isn't enough. New CJ Gulzar Sb when takes the high chair on Monday 23 December-will have to clear a huge pile of ambiguities/confusion in the constitution, reform selection/sacking of HC judges (not by SJC alone), and do capacity-building of courts. The Courts will have to earn respect and honour-not by their 'Divine Rights'. Written by: Ejaz Hussain,
